Vietnam is a model for balanced intellectual property

 

This is a review of Angela Deppeler, Institute of Intellectual Property Swiss Federal ceremony summarized in Vietnam Project - Switzerland on intellectual property (SVIP) took place this morning, on 5.18 Ha Interior.

Vietnam Project - Switzerland on intellectual property by the Swiss government funding takes place within 3 years (6 / 2007 - 6 / 2010) with a total budget of 1 million dollars.

This is the 2nd project followed the success of the Special Programme of Cooperation (SPC Program) implemented from 2001 to 2006 in the curriculum of the Agreement on Vietnam - Switzerland for the Protection of Intellectual Property and Contract work in the field of intellectual property, signed on 07/07/1999.

If the first collaboration (SPC Program) focuses on building the legal framework on intellectual property in Vietnam to suit the standards of the World Trade Organization (WTO), the joint project was aims to support the efforts of the Government of Vietnam in bringing intellectual property into the everyday lives of people.

The content of the project include promoting development of Intellectual Property Law, construction and development of geographical indications to products of Vietnam to intensify the protection of traditional knowledge and folklore of Vietnam; promote intellectual property at universities, ...

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Le Dinh Tien, Vice Minister of Science and Technology appreciated the great contribution of the project was to thank the support that
Swiss government for Vietnam.

Mr. Le Dinh Tien also stressed the great contribution of the project for the development SVIP an intellectual property system effectively Vietnam.

The Swiss representative, Alain Burdet, Deputy Ambassador of Switzerland in Vietnam congratulated SVIP project has made itself stand out.

He was also glad that Vietnam is ready and capable of continuing self-development system of their intellectual property.

Also, Mr. Burdet also mentioned the challenges that both countries Switzerland and Vietnam are facing in order to ensure an adequate protection of intellectual property rights, aims to promote environmental construction commercial investment.

As the Project Manager, Ms. Angela Deppeler, Institute of Intellectual Property Swiss Federal assess the capacity of the intellectual property system in Vietnam.

Deppeler She said: "Vietnam is an example of national economic development in Asia. So Vietnam is also a model for balanced intellectual property and SVIP is a model of intellectual property projects are highly specialized. "

Swiss bilateral assistance to Vietnam since 1993 with the overall objective of poverty reduction through sustainable economic development. Vietnam is also one of seven priority countries for development cooperation program of the Swiss economy.
